Who is an ideal candidate for body sculpting?
An ideal candidate is in good health but has some localized fat that won’t go away with diet or exercise.
How is the tumescent technique different than traditional liposuction?
It’s done under local anesthesia as opposed to general anesthesia and with a smaller cannula (Microcannula). Consequently, it has a much safer profile. Tumescent lipo-sculpting causes less blood loss and lymphatic system trauma. It eliminates general anesthesia side effects and provides post-operative pain control up to a couple of days, so the recovery is much faster. It also enables more fat removal than traditional liposuction because the local anesthesia breaks apart the fat, making it easier to extract. With the tumescent technique, the incision is smaller and there is less chance of scaring.
How is the procedure done?
The physician numbs the target area with a saline-based lidocaine solution, and then uses a small cannula (1/8 inch) to remove the unwanted fat. During the procedure, the patient is alert and able to communicate with the physician. (For nervous patients, an oral sedation enables the patient to nap while the surgery is performed). A compression garment is applied at the end of the procedure and patients are discharged shortly.
Is Tumescent Liposuction painful?
The only discomfort you will feel is the initial pinch when we numb the skin.

Are the results permanent?
Yes. We are born with a limited number of fat cells. Once they are removed by lipo-sculpting, they won’t come back. About 95 percent of patients can see an improvement in their silhouette a few days after surgery, but due to tissue remodeling and skin tightening, you won’t see the final result until a few months after the procedure.
Are there any side effects associated with Tumescent Liposuction?
Most side effects can be attributed to the unfamiliarity of the surgeon with local anesthesia. You will experience some swelling as the body heals, but the majority of the swelling subsides in several days. You may also experience minor discomfort after the numbness wears off, which can be managed with a mild painkiller like Tylenol®.
Is there any maintenance or follow-up after the procedure?
Depending on the procedure, your physician may recommend a few therapy sessions for achieving quicker recovery, optimal skin tightening and finer contouring.
