The Wonder of Walnuts
According to recent findings published in the British Journal of Nutrition, walnuts may help reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Researchers at the University of California – Davis and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Western Regional Research Center found that prostate tumors in mice that were fed the human equivalent of three ounces per day of walnuts were approximately 50 percent smaller and grew 30 percent slower than prostate tumors in control mice. Walnuts provide a healthful source of omega-3 fatty acids, gamma tocopherol (a form of vitamin E), polyphenols and antioxidants.
