Ahimsa House's Walk, Wag N' Run on August 24

Atlanta’s Ahimsa House is hosting their second annual Walk, Wag N’ Run at Lenox Park on August 24.

This great event has something for everyone: Concerned about animal cruelty? Ahimsa House works to protect animals who are victims of domestic abuse. Want to help human abuse victims? Ahimsa House helps animals and their humans reach safety together. Want to bond with your dog in a social setting for both of you? There will be plenty of particpants, two legged and four, out at the park on that day. Just want to exercise a bit and get a T-shirt? This is an opportunity to do that while helping a great cause.

Whatever your motivation, more than 80 percent of your registration fee and donation money goes directly to supporting the animals. If you want, you can even become an individual sponsor by purchasing a $100 “Junior Showman” sponsorship to make a big difference in many animals’ lives.

“Early bird” registration for the 5K portion is open through August 17, but you are welcome to register on the day of the Walk, Wag N’ Run as well. Arrive early so you and your team can warm up and try for the $100 “Fastest Team” prize! If speed isn’t your thing, you can also win a $100 prize for having the most creative team name or a whopping $250 for having the biggest team, so round up and register all your dog-park-going buddies. There will also be awards for the top male and female finishers in nine different age groups, as well as awards for the first three dogs who cross the finish line.

Make sure you have all your dogs on a non-retractable leash and have them up to date on their shots, and be there for the 7:30 start time for the 5K. The 1-mile fun run begins at 8:45. Plan now to come support Ahimsa House at the Walk, Wag N’ Run!
