The best fitness advice around town

BSA - Tammy StokesQ? There are so many choices when it comes to working out. What are the best exercises for my time and money?

A: This simple truth will always guide you toward the best exercises: the more movement an exercise requires, the more results it will deliver. The more muscles you use performing it, the more authentically it will shape and train your body. Amazing results comes from full body exercises, and they create muscular balance too. Love the way you look and feel about your body with these time-tested exercises: squats, deadlifts, lunges, pushups, planks, burpees and mountain climbers.

BSA - Tension Fit TrainerQ: What product can help me get a good workout away from the gym?

A: Try the Tension Fit Tranier (TFT). It is a new portable fintess device that provides a full body strength and cardio workout. TFT challenges the muscles at its weakest (eccentric) and strongest (concentric) points, resulting in progressive strength and enduracne training. You only need 20 minutes to get an effective workout with TFT and gain lean muscle.

Delaine RossQ: Which is more important, strength training or cardio?

A: Ideally, you should pick a training that combines the two, but if you’re a cardio junkie, please don’t neglect your strength training. Building lean muscle increases your metabolism, causing you to burn more calories just from living your life. Getting stronger will also make your cardio training easier. A stronger runner will be faster than one who only runs and doesn’t strength train. And ladies, don’t worry. Full body strength training will not make you bulky!

BSA - Joey DillonQ: What are some simple things people can do in their everyday routine to see faster health and fitness results?

A: Diet is key. That includes cutting out a lot of junk food or anything high in sugar. For physical activity, use a fitness tracker like Fitbit or Nike+ FuelBand. These track your sleeping patterns, steps and distances you’ve walked, calories burned and more, and they help you see your fitness goals becoming a reality.
