Dr. Mike Majumundar from Northside Plastic Surgery answers a readers question about migraines.
How does Botox help migraines?
Botox is an FDA-approved treatment for migraines. Botox helps all types of headaches, but there are certain criteria to meet before your insurance company will pay for it. You have to have 15 migraines a month that last at least four hours each and must have tried three different classes of migraine medications. Many people don’t meet these criteria, but migraine sufferers can still get Botox treatments to reduce their migraine medication intake, save on prescription costs and live a carefree existence until the Botox wears off.
