Dr. Brian Maloney from The Maloney Center for Facial Plastic Surgery answers a reader’s question about how to get thicker eyelashes.
Q: As I get older, I’ve noticed that my eyelashes are thinning. I don’t want to bother with lash extensions, but I have heard of Latisse. What is it, and what does it do?
A: Latisse is a prescription treatment used to grow longer, thicker and darker eyelashes. It is an FDA-approved solution that is applied nightly to the upper lash line. What my patients like best is that the improvement is made to their own lashes. The solution works gradually, and while you may see longer lashes after just four weeks, results continue to improve up to 16 weeks. Once the desired look is achieved, I have patients apply the solution two to three times a week for maintenance.
