Ever heard of someone recording their 5K race time that reflects them finishing the 3.1 mile course before they started? In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 6 at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, Daylight Savings Time will end at 2:00 and the clocks will “fall back” to a 1 a.m. setting, The Anytime Fitness ‘Anything is Possible’ 5K will give runners that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to achieve a ‘negative’ time.
The Anything is Possible 5K Series combines a unique running event with a chance to give back to our troops. The AIP5K races will be held simultaneously at 1:50am on November 6, 2011 around the country. Ten minutes into each race, Daylight Savings Time will end and the clocks will be turned back, virtually guaranteeing that each runner will finish in a “negative” time. You can pre-register at www.anythingispossible5k.com or in person at 5 convenient Big Peach Running Co. locations until November 5 for $25… or you can register on race day for $30.
The 5K is appropriately timed since the following week on November 11, the U.S. will be observing Veteran’s Day and the AIP5K will donate a percentage of its proceeds to Hope for the Warriors and Team Red, White & Blue – two charities whose missions are to help injured servicemen and women re-integrate into society.
A little more about Hope For The Warriors:
The mission of Hope For The Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for US service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors actively seeks to ensure that the sacrifices of wounded and fallen warriors and their families are never forgotten nore their needs unmet.
Time and experience have demonstrated that the wounded warriors, their spouses and children, possess an inner strength that allows them to carry themselves with pride and dignity despite the toll physical and emotional wounds afflict. Yet, despite a heroic outlook, physical and emotional wounds create unanticipated short and long-term needs for the service members and their families. These realizations became the core of Hope for the Warriors impassioned drive to build hope beyond recovery. For more information, visit www.HopeForTheWarriors.org
A little more about Team Red, White & Blue:
Team Red, White & Blue is a non-profit organization that brings athletes together. They are a veteran support organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of wounded veterans and their families aiming to transform the way wounded veterans are reintegrated into society when they return from combat and exit their position in the Active Duty force or National Guard. Together with wounded veterans and their families and friends, they develop meaningul, one-on-one relationships that transcend traditional short-term fundraising efforts.
Strong relationships between wounded veterans and their fellow americans are critical to veterans’ reintegration into civilian life as well as our nation’s success. That’s why Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of wounded veterans and their families. Team RWB works toward this missions by focusing on three key areas – endurance events, social leadership based networks and one-on-one relationships. For more information, visit: www.TeamRWB.org
