Volunteer Spotlights: No Kid Hungry Campaign & Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Volunteering is a huge part of being your best self, and here at Best Self Atlanta we like to keep you in-the-know on how to give back to your community – whether it be through donations, events or volunteering your time. This month we featured two fantastic organizations that are always looking for volunteers: No Kid Hungry Campaign and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

No Kid Hungry Campaign: Governor Deal recently launched “Feeding for a Promising future – No Kid Hungry Campaign” with Share Our Strength and Georgia Food Bank Association. The partnership aims to end childhood hunger by using proven strategies to increase the number of Georgia children who eat nutritious meals offered through summer and after-school meal programs, and increase the number of families who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You can join and take your own pledge to make sure no child in Georgia ever goes hungry as well as help raise awareness for the cause. They are also looking for volunteer culinary and nutrition experts. Details: www.nokidhungry.org/Georgia

Mothers Against Drunk Driving: Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the nation’s largest non-profit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking Whether you’re interested in volunteering a couple times a year or a couple times a week, there’s a place for you with a wide variety of opportunities to match your interests and expertise. Opportunities include being an advocate for change by working to strengthen laws, becoming a trained victim advocate, speaking out at schools, civic groups and organizations, raising funds and awareness through community events, distributing MADD red ribbons to encourage people not to drink and drive, coordinating victim impact panels and more. No matter how you choose to give back or which organization you want to work with – giving back is good for the mind, body and soul. To find more organizations in need of volunteers, be sure to check out our volunteer page.
