What do attendees need to know before class starts?

There is free parking just a few steps from the door so no need to worry about logistics. Just make sure to arrive at your appointment on time or early as sessions last only 20 minutes.

How would you describe this workout? How did you feel before, during, and after the workout? How does it compare to similar classes you’ve taken?

A different take on strength training, I was initially worried about the session as I don’t have a lot of muscle and generally prefer cardio over lifting weights. I was immediately put at ease when I walked in and learned that it would just be Tammy and I. Once we jumped into the workout I was pleasantly surprised on how different this session was compared to traditional strength training. Unlike typical weight lifting where I have to worry about lifting too much and don’t feel like I am accomplishing much (getting fatigued after a few reps of 10 pounds is not inspiring), I loved that using the ARX machines I knew that I could safely push myself and see the progress. As a competitive personality, I loved working to beat my last push. Before I knew it the 20-minute session was up and I felt accomplished and strong having challenged myself the whole way.

What muscle groups did this class work the most? Was it a great workout for your abs, butt, arms, etc.?

This is a total body workout! From leg presses to overhead presses, and rows, the different machines target each muscle of your body in such a short time!

Did the instructor do anything to make the class extra special?

Tammy walked me through getting set up and explained the seemingly intimidating equipment in a way that made it seem easy and approachable. She also was great at pushing me to beat my last rep and even gave me some nutrition advice as well!

What was the most enjoyable part of the workout?

My favorite part of the workout was trying to beat my previous rep. Sometimes getting started when it comes to working out can be frustrating because everything seems impossible and it is hard to see progress. I loved that even in a short 20 minutes I could see myself improving and pushing to get stronger.

Next Age Fitness provides a fantastic way to strength train in a non-aggressive, encouraging, and quick way! The fact that you don’t have to worry about injuring yourself, coming multiple days a week (most of Tammy’s clients come in just once a week), or figuring out complicated exercises really makes this fitness studio a winner for my busy and gym-shy self.
