Rev up for this year’s Red Bull Soap Box Race! This global event has hosted races all over the world and is now taking a pit stop right here in Atlanta on June 9. There are 39 teams that have been preparing for this downhill derby and now they’re off to the races!
During the month of May, voters picked who they wanted the 40th racer to be. One wild card team was chosen for the this race spot and on May 2, the race lineup was finalized.
Atlanta is notorious for having crazy drivers but the craziest will be downtown on June 9. Racers in soapboxes of all kinds will compete against the clock in a race to the bottom of 10th Street in hopes of Red Bull fame and glory. The Atlanta event will be the 12th U.S. Red Bull Soapbox Race to ever take place, with the first stateside race held in St. Louis in 2006.
Come witness these wacky races as self-constructed, human-powered vehicles race to the finish line on 10th Street at Piedmont Park.
So whether you’re a die-hard adrenaline junkie, a race aficionado, or just looking for a good laugh, come out and watch racers cruise or crash their way to the finish line.
