This month we will be launching a very important initiative: Band Together Against Breast Cancer. The neon pink headband will become the symbol of this initiative, made possible thanks to the support of Kaiser Permanente and supporting sponsors, Vein Clinics of America, Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine, Gardner Dermatology & Med Spa and Premier Image Cosmetic & Laser Surgery.
Band Together kicks off May 10 at Race for the Cure (we will be there with more than 14,000 supporters and survivors) and wraps up in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The six-month long campaign will raise awareness about breast cancer and funds for Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta’s local breast cancer research and support services. We ask you, the Best Self community of businesses and readers, to join us. Visit our tent at Race for the Cure or online find out how your donation of as little as $5 or your sponsorship can have you wearing the band and giving back to this important cause!
And speaking of give back, this year’s Over 40 & Fabulous! winners are very committed to their respective causes. From the outpouring of email and Facebook votes, it’s clear the fabulous nominees represent some of Atlanta’s healthiest and most beautiful women and men over 40. Not only that, but they also give back to our community in truly significant ways. We also want to thank our Over 40 & Fabulous! presenting sponsor for their support, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Valeant Pharmaceuticals, as well as our other sponsors, ASM Wellness, AlternaHealth Solutions and Bob Steele Salon.
Congratulations to our top 10 winners: Beth Ann Bearup, Erika Carter, Sue Cobb, Jennifer McGowan Guynn, Diana Hofsommer, Dr. David W. Jones, Virginia Keagle, Marsha Middleton, Toni Moceri and Peggy Rainbow. Members of this group use their businesses, time and energy to generate resources for many other causes. They also manage to take great care of themselves while doing so much good, which makes them even more fabulous in our eyes.
In addition to the top 10, this year’s candidates were so wonderful that we have chosen to honor another fabulous five. These five were right on the heels of the top 10 for votes, so we also want to acknowledge Lea Bay, Trudy Davies Davis, Joseph Golshani, LeeAnn Maxwell and Rebecca Walden. Don’t miss our June issue that features our winner on the cover!
