Joy Harden-Bradford, of Thriveworks Atlanta Counseling, shares her best advice for pampering.
How does taking “me” time contribute to women’s overall well-being?
It gives your mind, body and spirit time to recharge. It gives you the space to really connect with yourself, which is important as you move forward in both your personal and professional lives.
Why don’t women generally take enough time to pamper themselves?
Women tend to be socialized to put others’ needs before their own and see “me” time as being selfish. The difficult part for many women to understand is that if you don’t properly take care of yourself, then you can’t take care of others.
What is your advice for women who want to take more “me” time?
Make it a part of your schedule. Just like you schedule doctor’s appointments and meetings, schedule time to engage in pleasurable activity for yourself.
What is your personal favorite way to pamper yourself?
Manicures and pedicures, or catching up on all of my favorite podcasts.
