With the Peachtree Road Race only three weeks away, it’s about time to start figuring out the logistics for the race. When first signing up, if you chose to pick up your race number at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo, plan to pick up your number at the Georgia World Congress Center happening the two days preceding the race, July 2-3.
Remember to bring a copy of your race number confirmation and a form of ID. If you chose to have your number mailed to you, expect it in your mailbox this week.
Be sure to make plans beforehand regarding how you will arrive at the start line on race day. The Peachtree Road Race begins on Peachtree Road next to Lenox Square Mall. Check the start times for your assigned letter, and plan accordingly.
As a seasoned Peachtree Road Race participant, I recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before your assigned start time to have enough time for a quick warm-up and to find your letter’s start area.
Atlanta Track Club advises Peachtree Road Race participants to take MARTA. MARTA will start running at 5a.m. and continue throughout the day to take runners to and from the race. The Lenox Station is the closest to the start line, and the Midtown or Art Center Station is the closest to the finish line. There will be no parking at the start line area, so if possible take MARTA or have a friend drop you off at the start line.
After the start line, runners will make their way down Peachtree Road to 10th Street in Midtown. The finish line is located on 10th Street next to Piedmont Park. Water stops will be placed along every mile of the 10K course.
Best of luck, runners!
