Skateboarding has been a popular, cultural sport, since the 1970’s. In celebration of skateboarding, the Museum of Design Atlanta has put together an exhibition, Skate It or Hang It!? The Evolution of Skateboard Art on June 16 from 12 to 5 p.m. This summer exhibition of course welcomes all shake boarders, but also encourages designers and artists to come out as well.
The Skate It or Hang It!? event will have a broad focus on skateboard graphics along with a range of styles, imagery, and visual expression in skateboard art. It is a chance to see how skateboard decks are design, but also lets the skateboarder use their imagination in trying to design their own skateboard deck.
Local artists who are inspired by skateboard art will also attend such as, Alex Brewer aka HENSE and Charlie Owens. Everyone is welcomed to come out and watch the demonstration on how skateboard decks are made. Skate It or Hang It!? The Evolution of Skateboard Art is for anyone who has ever ridden a skateboard or has always wanted to!
Skate It or Hang It!? will be held at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) from June 16 to September 16, 2012.
