As we gear up for our 6th annual Over 40 & Fabulous! contest, we have decided to check-in with our previous winners to see what they are up to now.
Since winning our 2013 Over 40 & Fabulous! contest, raising awareness and funding for the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation continues to be Kim Vaughn’s focus. She became an advocate for the Foundation after being diagnosed with the disease shortly after the birth of her first child in 1988. She has served as a national spokesperson and board member of the Foundation and currently focuses on fundraising. On May 1, 2016, the Foundation will hold its ninth “Sip for Sjögren’s” fine water tasting event, an event which Kim has served as chair of since its inception.
In addition, Kim continues to coach and mentor her pageant clients to help them achieve high levels of self-confidence and poise through honing communication skills and earning scholarship money. As a former teacher, she believes that education is the key that unlocks a lifetime of opportunity.
She recently had the privilege of working with Betty Cantrell as she prepared for Miss Georgia. In September 2015 in Atlantic City, Betty became the second Miss Georgia to win Miss America.
