Cabaret - Kellie Rehn - BSA 0916

From stunning magic tricks to love stories as classic as they are heart-wrenching, the 2016-2017 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta season offers a little something for every live-theater lover. Preparing the season takes extensive planning explains Russ Belin, vice president of Broadway in Atlanta. “We’ll start 18-24 months [in advance] looking at titles that are pre-Broadway. We really do think about what Atlanta wants,” says Belin. “I think Atlantans have come a long way on educating themselves on what’s hot on Broadway, and letting us know what they want and then supporting it when it comes here.”  The final selections are determined by the balance of tour schedule, Fox Theatre availability and seasonal timing. Each show only makes an appearance in Atlanta for a brief period, so check out the schedule and reserve your tickets soon!

Madison James - BSA 0816

Warmer temps can often motivate us to get more active, but sometimes we need an extra push to stay on track.  The advanced technology of a fitness tracker might help. I love the newest addition to the Fitbit line, the Fitbit Alta™. The Alta is sleek and fashionable and tracks daily fitness goals while sporting serious style. My favorite feature is the Bluetooth-enabled text alert. The Fitbit Alta starts at around $130; it’s perfect for all fitness levels and the interchangeable bands give great options for different looks.

Back-to-school time brings hectic schedules, early wake-up calls and new levels of stress. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Strong4Life team has tips to help smooth out the bumps.

Stress: Have regular school conversations to ease your student’s comfort level. Know their teachers’ expectations and what’s on their daily agenda.

Routines: Establish solid routines for early morning, after school and bedtime. Encourage after-school outdoor playtime to release energy, and make it a rule not to have any screen-time until all homework is complete.

Nutrition: Kids who start their day with a nutritionally balanced breakfast have better overall school performance. Try make-ahead recipes that can be served easily in the morning rush.
