This year, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. alone. Thousands more will be unable to receive screenings or treatments simply due to a lack of resources in their area. Peach State Health Plan, in conjunction with Atlanta nonprofit Sisters by Choice, is hitting the road to bring breast care to the medically underserved areas of Georgia. The new free Mobile Breast Clinic will be equipped with the latest technology for breast cancer detection and treatment and specialists to provide more than 3,000 screenings this year.

Doug GradySince becoming one of our 2011 Over 40 & Fabulous! Top 10 winners, Doug Grady has continued to help others reach their highest potential through his international speaking tours in Toronto and Vancouver, his personal development program, 40 Days of FOCUS, and his widely read and endorsed book, The Ripple Effect.

Doug’s faith has continued to play a large role in his life. He recently developed and facilitated 40 Days of FAITH as a small group for Covered Bridge Church, along with creating a Men’s Ministry.  He has also participated in several mission trips to Ecuador to build homes for those in extreme poverty.

In her personal life, Doug recently married his wife Allison Kusic (now Allison Grady), attended his 25th Homecoming at Tulane University and had bilateral total hip replacement surgery.

He is now looking forward to speak on the 2016 Secret Knock lineup, one of Forbes magazine’s top five conferences for entrepreneurs.

Bruce Salzinger

Since becoming one of our 2011 Over 40 & Fabulous! Top 10 winners, Dr. Bruce Salzinger has continued to pursue his passion for philanthropy. Over the last several years he has become greatly involved with Gear For Goals (G4G), a 501c3 charity organization that is a division of Dreamweaver International. Bruce has been helping the organization to collect “gently used” sporting equipment and musical instruments by accepting donations at his office (405 Pharr Road Northeast, Atlanta GA 30305) and consolidating the donations for shipment to Kenya, Dominican Republic and many others where they are well received. He is also helping the organization in their mission to partner with houses of worship and porting organizations such as little leagues, soccer leagues, etc.

Since becoming one of our 2011 Over 40 & Fabulous! Top 10 winners, Maria Walden-Sullivan has launched the philanthropic initiative, Operation We Appreciate Ladies of Our Troops (WALT) in 2014. WALT provides wedding dresses and other elements for a wedding to women in the military (active and reserve).  This was formed in honor of Maria’s father, Walt Kaczmarek, and all he did for Maria’s family and the country while he served in the Navy.  Maria says the ultimate goal of Operation WALT is to give back to the military in some way.

In the summer of 2015, Maria and her family welcomed the arrival of her granddaughter, Annabel.  Most recently, she is preparing for the launch of her of her online dating business, iDate, an online dating resume/profile service to help the professional dater find true love.

MasseySince becoming one of our 2011 Over 40 & Fabulous! Top 10 winners, Caroline Massey King Yost has successfully launched her own marketing and public-relations firm, called Massey Marketing & PR, which assists businesses both big and small in reaching their marketing potential.

Family still remains one of her top priorities. and Caroline and her new husband, Jim, continue to be inspired by the positive attitude her eldest daughter, Julia, has maintained through four neurosurgeries as she learns to walk while recovering from a spinal-cord injury.

Always one to pay it forward, Caroline also volunteers with an inner-city school mentoring program through her church, Buckhead Church.

PyramidSince becoming our 2011 Over 40 & Fabulous! contest winner, Kim Bearden is still the co-founder and executive director of the Ron Clark Academy, where she also teaches language arts.  To date, over 33,000 educators have now visited RCA to observe there classes and attend workshops to learn better ways to promote student engagement, increase rigor, and create a climate and culture for success.

Kim continues to be booked as a keynote speaker for Premiere Speakers Bureau, and has spoken to thousands of educators across the country and around the world. On top of that, she has received several professional honors—most recently the UGA Outstanding Alumni Award in March.

In the summer of 2014, Kim released her first book, “Crash Course: The Life Lessons My Students Taught Me.”

The same summer that her book was released, Kim’s family began a significant new chapter.  In “Crash Course,” she shared how her time in Soweto, South Africa, had a transformative affect upon her life and her understanding of gratitude.  So powerful was the impact that, in June of 2014, three beautiful twelve-year-old boys (Sisipho, Sabelo, and Phakamani) from Soweto joined the Bearden family, and they simultaneously began the seventh grade as students at the Ron Clark Academy. Kim says their three sons (now fourteen years old and thriving) have taught her family countless lessons about love, understanding, and race, and she believes that their lives will have a profound impact upon this world.

Since Cynthia Decker was a part of our 2012 Over 40 & Fabulous! contest, she and co-owner Molly Hopkins were chosen to star in Lifetime’s Reality TV series the Double Divas. The show followed their lives through the crazy world of running a lingerie boutique in Atlanta, GA! After reaching millions of women all over the world through two season of the show, Molly & Cynthia decided to launched a direct sales program where women all across the U.S. have come to train at LiviRae to learn how to run a mobile business venture in their hometown. We’re on year two of this program and we expect big things to come!
In the last two years Cynthia & Molly have taken LiviRae Lingerie’s custom fit technique on the road to help launch each of the new sales representatives as well as support local non-profit organizations across the U.S. LiviRae Lingerie has been to Virginia, North Carolina, Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, Missouri and Maryland, helping hundreds of women find the perfect fitting bra!
In addition to that, LiviRae has also teamed up with I Will Survive, Inc. a local non-profit organization focused around breast cancer awareness through education and funding in lower income communities. They’ve set up in-store fundraising events, clothing drives and more, all in support of this cause that is near and dear to their hearts.
