The Atlanta Humane Society‘s Sarah Chambers, president of 1873 Society Club, is here to give you her best advice on how to get the most from your downtime.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
A: I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, perhaps going to a local winery for lunch or working on projects around my home. I also love to travel and have been to some great places. Every day is a new adventure!
Q: How do you make more time for yourself?
A: Sometimes it comes down to saying “no” every once in a while. It is important to take time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate. The better you treat yourself, the more you can give to others. I try to prioritize my time where I believe I can make the biggest difference.
Q: What is a must-read book on your list?
A: “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” by Sheryl Sandberg.
Q: What advice do you have for someone who wants to have more “me” time?
A: Make yourself a priority. I find it helpful to actually schedule time in my calendar for myself.
Q: Who do you like to spend your free time with?
A: I love to be outside, either hiking with my dogs, taking a walk or just sitting in the sun. On rainy days, I’m a sucker for movies.
Q: Who are the people that help you be your best self?
A: My family keeps me grounded and has taught me that if I can dream it, I can achieve it.
