Acupuncture has many different benefits. I have recently been utilizing acupuncture to assist me with the pressure in my sinus cavity and head from the high pollen count triggering allergies here in Atlanta. I have also received much success and relief from the acupuncture for my ongoing digestive disorder and delicate immune system. The results I have felt have been nothing but amazing. My acupuncturist, Andrea Lewinter, CNC, L. Ac., is an unbelievable healer.
During my acupuncture sessions with Andrea, I have found that I am in a much more relaxed state; resulting in feeling less stressed and more balanced both mentally and physically. Andrea notes that many of her clients utilize acupuncture for chronic pain (back, muscular, knee, foot, neck), stress release (opens up the adrenals and reduces stress thru cortisol decrease), improved sleep and better digestion. The non-invasive “miracle worker” as I like to call it, has been in practice for over 3,000 years.
She has also incorporated tuning forks into my sessions. The tuning fork therapy is an energy-based, non-invasive treatment in which tuning forks are applied to specific acupuncture and acupressure points to access the body’s meridians, charka, and energy system.
You feel a very unique vibration flow through your body…almost as if there is little roto-rooter moving throughout the body freeing up any “clogs in your drain.” I’ve experienced an overall calming effect after my session as well as pain relief on my joints.
For athletes and fitness junkies like me, acupuncture is an excellent way to address pain as it also helps heal and repair injured tissue, the underlying trigger of pain. Frequent treatments throughout fitness training are beneficial in speeding up recovery time from fatigue and the stress those things like a cross training workout or long run places on the body.
