Train Like Madonna with Addicted to Sweat

Ever wanted Madonna’s killer arms or rock-hard abs? Well, grab a towel and water bottle, and get ready to sweat with Hard Candy Fitness’s DVD series “Addicted to Sweat,” which was created and co-designed by Madonna and her personal trainer, Nicole Winhoffer.

Winhoffer spoke with Best Self Atlanta about this new exercise program:

How similar are the “Addicted to Sweat” workouts to workouts you do with Madonna?
Madonna’s uses many of these workouts to keep in the best shape possible for the intense two hours of cardio that the MDNA show involves.

What advice would you give to someone just starting an exercise regime?
Know where you are and where you are going. What do you want?  What do you want to change? Continually ask yourself questions and probe until you define what you want out of your body. Know that anything is possible.

Commit. Once you start something, follow through, and finish. People often get discouraged when they don’t see results right away. The time you put in is what you get back. The beauty of the Hard Candy DVD’s is that you see the end result on film. The level is high, but attainable. When starting, you will assess where you are, work toward achieving the program, and will see results. Be patient, and if you can’t do something right away, pause the DVD, take a moment, and practice a couple times.

What do you believe is the key behind successfully maintaining a healthy lifestyle?
Exercising at least six days a week, teaching your body something new, doing the same thing garners the same results and setting goals. Having a positive attitude: this is the seed that determines your outcome and your life. Eating healthfully. This means knowing what your body needs (specifically to you) and answering it.  Food is fuel.  Results don’t come from just exercising.  The fuel you put in your body is the gas that drives your car and revs your engine. Alcohol slows down your metabolism. Cutting it out of your diet will make a difference in aesthetic and performance. There are no limits. The human body is an amazing thing. Reach for the stars and believe in yourself. Only you answer to yourself.

How do you personally like to stay fit and active?
Fitness is a huge part of my life, as is dance, art, music and fashion. I love the idea of fitness as an art form and I am always using each of these components as inspiration when creating new workouts.
