Valorie Ness from Catalyst Fitness in Midtown gives her best advice for how to look 10 years younger.
What is a common mistake you see people make that ages them?
As a fitness professional, a common mistake I see is not making exercise apart of your daily life. After all, exercise keeps you young by assisting with maintaining a healthy weight. Exercise releases “happy hormones” which in turn leads to a healthy outlook on life. Exercise also keeps your skeletal and muscular system strong, which contributes to great posture and the ability to continue to do the things you did 10 or 20 years ago.
What is a simple way someone can look 10 years younger?
Use sunscreen when you head outdoors for a walk, run, bike, swim or to play with your kids. Wrinkles and sunspots really can be telling.
What is your favorite quote about staying young?
“Age is just a number. It’s totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.”
- Jackie Collins
What do you think is the secret for looking great at any age?
I believe looking great starts from the inside and works its way out. To look great and continue to look great, you need to eat clean (no chemicals, dyes and things you can’t pronounce), perform exercises that will increase your cardio-respiratory, muscle and skeletal systems and chose to do things that will lower your stress level.
What are three activities people can do to stay young?
Of course I will go with exercise as #1. Make me happy moments are #2, and #3 is to be with the one you love.
