VOICE Today, a group dedicated to raising awareness about and preventing child sexual abuse, is holding their first annual Legacy Ball on Saturday, August 17. This black-tie charity event benefits VOICE Today and coincides with the organization’s fifth anniversary.
One of the honored guests at this event is 11-year-old Breann Hill, who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her grandfather. She bravely told her parents, and they responded with full support by confronting Breann’s grandfather and holding him responsible for his actions. Her example shows that it’s crucial for families to have an open dialogue about sexual assault so that children can know what to watch out for and know when to speak up to a trusted adult.
The Legacy Ball on August 17 will raise significant funds for awareness, prevention, and healing programs related to sexual abuse. And the event can’t come soon enough–did you know one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before their 18th birthdays? Mark your calendar and attend VOICE Today’s Legacy Ball to help bring down these staggering statistics.
