On Saturday, November 26, 2011, hundreds of runners will be burning off their Thanksgiving calories by participating in a half-marathon and 5K event at Chateau Elán Winery and Resort to benefit The Orange Duffel Bag Foundation (www.orangeduffelbagfoundation.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides professional certified life plan coaching and ongoing advocates for older foster youth and those aging out of foster care (ages 12-24).
The November 26th race starts at Chateau Elán (www.chateauelan.com) a luxury hotel, golf resort, and winery just 40 minutes outside of Atlanta, and runs through scenic Braselton and Hoschton. Registration fees for the half marathon and 5K increase on Saturday, October 29, and athletes are encouraged to sign up early to take advantage of lower fees.
The event is being sponsored by ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, a health and fitness organization with the mission to inspire women to lead active and healthy lives. ZOOMA plans a special post-race party and race expo with a girls’ weekend atmosphere including massages and shopping. Live music, wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and more is free and open to the public. Participants may register for the race at http://zoomarun.com/atlanta/
After registering for the race, participants can sign up to fundraise for The Orange Duffel Bag Foundation here: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/orangeduffelbag/zoomaatlantahalfmarathon5k.
Chateau Elán will also be the setting for The Orange Duffel Bag Foundation’s first Holidays of Hope, November 23-28, 2011. Compliments of the resort, youth in foster care who are attending area colleges and have no where to go during the break will celebrate the Thanksgiving holidays at Chateau Elán.
