Dr. Grace Chiang, WellStar Medical Group, Allergy and AsthmaQ: How do I know if I have a food allergy?

A: Symptoms tend to appear within several minutes of eating the food in question and may include hives, swelling, vomiting, coughing or difficulty breathing.
