If heredity, pregnancy, breast-feeding or the natural pull of gravity due to aging has resulted in deflated, drooping, or a less than satisfactory breast contour, breast augmentation and/or breast lift surgery can help.

Breast enlargement (augmentation) is a procedure that can greatly enhance one’s personal image and confidence.  It involves placing an incision on or near the breast and inserting an implant. The implant can be placed behind the breast, or behind the breast and the pectoralis muscle.

The implants are all made of silicone but can be filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel. The implants also come in round or anatomical (tear-drop) shapes and a variety of sizes. During our consultation, the patient picks the right shape, volume, and projection based on her personal measurements. At that time, we will also discuss ptosis – which is the droop of the nipple/areola.  If the nipple is very droopy, which commonly occurs after breast-feeding, you may be a candidate for a breast lift.

A breast lift is a little different than an augmentation and involves additional incisions with the goal being to restore the breast mound and nipple to its more youthful position. A breast lift can also be done in conjunction with an augmentation with a breast implant.
