Southern Belle Serves Up Drive-In Movie Eats and Sweet Treats

The Plaza Theatre has launched Friday, Saturday, and Sunday drive-in movies, and Southern Belle is offering contact-free concessions!

Upon arrival and parking at The Plaza, attendees movie-goers will be given Southern Belle’s drive-in menu which will have a QR code that they can scan to order food. Once on the ordering platform, guests will be prompted to enter their parking space number for the order, and the Southern Belle team will bring out the food and place it on the hood of the car for a no-contact drop-off.

Southern Belle is also offering KT Cakes in Colors for pickup as part of its At Home program. KT Cakes in Colors was started by Southern Belle employee KT Blackmon as a way to celebrate loved ones who were feeling disappointed by their inability to bring joy to each other due to the effects of COVID-19 and quarantine. Now, she is excited to offer the cakes in partnership with Southern Belle! Cakes are $30 a piece and are available in varieties including Oreo, Lemon Berry Mascarpone, Strawberries and Cream, Chocolate and Hazelnut, Caramel Delight, and Birthday Cake.

A No-Lettuce Greek Salad with Chef Pano from Kyma

The true secret to a delectable greek salad? No lettuce. High-quality tomatoes and cucumbers with extra virgin olive oil are what make this dish shine. Chef Pano, owner of Kyma, offers his delicious take on this classic Mediterranean dish:

Ingredients:

  • 1⁄3 European cucumber, peeled, halved lengthwise, and sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 1 small green bell pepper, halved and thinly sliced
  • ½ small red onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar, optional
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano, plus more for sprinkling
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground white pepper
  • 2 ripe medium heirloom tomatoes (1 lb total), each cut into 8 wedges
  • 4 cracked green olives
  • 4 dry-cured black olives
  • 4 Kalamata olives
  • One 4-ounce chunk of feta cheese, sliced ¼ inch thick and cut into triangles

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, combine the cucumber, bell pepper, and onion.
  • Add the oil, vinegar, if desired, and oregano, season with salt and pepper, and toss to coat.
  • Add the tomatoes to the bowl and toss gently to mix. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the salad to a serving bowl or bowls. Decorate with the olives and feta, sprinkle with oregano, and serve.

Miller Union—Miller Union has partnered with the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm to provide meals to the hardworking healthcare heroes of Emory Healthcare Heroes, along with Forza Storico. The program provides almost 2,000 meals a week to healthcare workers.
